Job Description
Job Purpose:
The Department of Family and Community Medicine and Behavioral Sciences, College of Medicine at the University of Sharjah invites applications from qualified candidates for the position of Professor of Medical Education to commence appointment in the Fall semester of the Academic Year 2026/2027.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in teaching, curriculum management, and educational innovation in the college, to work closely with the Dean of the College of Medicine, and to supervise the delivery of the PhD Program in Health Professions Education, and the Master of Leadership in Health Professions Education.
The role also includes planning, implementing, and overseeing faculty development activities to enhance teaching and learning, student assessment, and educational research across the College of Medicine and the Medical Education Centre.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Support the delivery of the PhD Program in Health Professions Education and the existing Master of Leadership in Health Professions Education.
2. Advise the Dean on curriculum design, delivery, and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the College of Medicine.
3. Oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures for curriculum management at the College of Medicine.
4. Promote innovation in teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
5. Contribute to the faculty development program.
6. Support and enhance research in Medical and Health Professions Education
7. Mentor junior academic staff in their research and promotion pathways.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. PhD in Medical/Clinical or Health Profession Education or a related field
2. A medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) is an advantage.
3. Three years of strong teaching record at the rank of Full Professor at both undergraduate and graduate health professions education levels.
4. Experience in supervising students in PhD Programs in Medical/Health Professions Education.
5. Demonstrated leadership in Medical or Health Professions Education.
6. Substantial track record of research in Medical/Health Profession Education.
7. Established record of publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.
8. Participation in international medical education boards, acting as an external examiner for other universities, or holding editorial positions in major journals.
9. Securing large-scale and competitive external research grants.
10. Owns strategic plans for operational procedures for developing the curriculum and its alignment with the international and EPA standards.
