Job Description
Job Purpose
The College of Law at the University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates is seeking candidates for full-time faculty positions (Open Rank), for appointments starting in the academic year 2026-2027, Fall Semester.
Candidates will be expected to teach English programs only.
Qualified candidates must apply through the university's website. Applicants should submit a cover letter outlining their qualifications and suitability for the position, along with a detailed CV and a list of three professional referees.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Teach assigned classes and ensure the fulfilment of the learning outcomes specified by the program.
2. Develop new courses for the current offerings and potential new degree programs.
3. Actively participate in the intellectual life of a talented, vibrant, and unique legal community.
4. Publish in internationally peer-reviewed, Scopus-indexed journals.
5. Contribute to promoting research collaborations between UoS and international institutions.
6. Actively engage with the University and the wider Emirati community.
7. Supervise graduate students’ theses and dissertations.
8. Advise undergraduate and graduate students on academic and career matters.
9. Provide academic and expert service to the department including but not limited to the preparation or completion of academic accreditation.
10. Deliver engaging learning experiences to students through lectures, seminars, and workshops in the subject area.
11. Complete all assigned tasks promptly and efficiently.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
1. Candidates must hold a PhD or equivalent (e.g., S.J.D.) in Public Law (Constitutional or Administrative Law) from reputable universities in the USA, UK, Australia, or Canada.
2. Candidates applying for the rank of Assistant Professor must have published at least four papers in legal journals indexed in Scopus.
3. Candidates applying for the rank of Associate Professor must have published at least six papers in legal journals indexed in Scopus.
4. Candidates applying for the rank of Professor must have published at least eight papers in legal journals indexed in Scopus.
5. Candidates must have an outstanding academic record, with demonstrable evidence or strong potential for excellence and innovation in teaching, research, and service.
6. Extensive experience in teaching graduate courses and supervising graduate theses/dissertations in the relevant discipline.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Proficiency in using educational technology.
9. Candidates must be English native or fluent speaker.
