Summary

Performs routine laboratory work following established procedures and records results. Work in the lab starts promptly at 9:00 a.m. with expectation for weekend coverage to be available from 7-9am in case a sick mouse is identified by the center for comparative medicine team. The Laboratory Helper is expected to work ~8 hours a week and to work ~10 weekends a year checking on mice and addressing issues for sick mice with remote supervision.

Job Duties

  • Clean laboratory equipment
  • Provide care to mouse colonies, identify sick mice
  • Assist with tissue harvest from mice
  • Evaluate engraftment of leukemia samples in mice
  • Conduct experiments
  • Keep meticulous documentation of laboratory work performed
  • Adhere to laboratory protocols and maintain certifications to work in the lab
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • No experience required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior lab work experience
