The Financial Analyst supports the financial operations of the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences (DFCAS) by providing financial monitoring, analysis, reporting, and compliance oversight for departmental, faculty, and research-related funding sources.
This position is responsible for the financial management and reconciliation of approximately 33 organizational accounts totaling an estimated $8.6 million in annual expenditures across multiple academic units within the college. The Financial Analyst ensures accurate tracking of funds, performs detailed reconciliations, prepares financial reports, and provides guidance to faculty and department leadership regarding the appropriate use of institutional, auxiliary, and research-related funds.
The position also contributes to financial improvements, policy compliance, and fiscal stewardship initiatives that support the college’s strategic priorities and operational effectiveness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reconciliation:
Manage financial tracking and monitoring systems for departmental discretionary, laboratory, auxiliary, and operational funds.
Monitor account balances and financial activity to ensure compliance with university policies and funding restrictions.
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
Generate and customize financial reports for faculty, department leadership, and college administration.
Provide monthly financial reports and budget summaries for each assigned organization and funding source.
Faculty & Departmental Financial Support:
Provide consultation and support to faculty, department chairs, and staff regarding funding sources, expenditure allowances, and budget management.
Financial Transactions & Administrative Support:
Collaborate with Shared Business Services Center (SBSC) and departmental staff to ensure financial transactions are processed accurately and in accordance with university procedures.
Compliance & Process Improvement:
Provide training and consultation to departments regarding budget management, financial policies, and fund administration.
Assist with financial process improvements, policy development, compliance reviews, and risk mitigation efforts.
Additional Responsibilities:
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the effective financial management and operational success of the DFCAS Dean’s Office Financial Resource Management Team.
Job Requirements---
Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field, AND:
24 months financial, budgeting or accounting experience.
Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months of related experience.
Skills:
Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data
Ability to manage multiple accounts, projects, and deadlines simultaneously
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to build collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, and administrative leadership
