Teaching responsibilities include in-person lecture, skill laboratory instruction, and clinical teaching in acute care settings for undergraduate students. Tenure-track faculty positions provide probationary appointments. Tenure-track faculty hold renewable, full-time appointments for one-year terms, subject to annual reappointment as described in the Teaching and Research (T&R) Faculty Handbook.

Required Qualifications

Earned doctoral degree in Nursing or a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a PhD or EdD in a related field. Candidates with significant progress toward the doctorate with a plan for completion may be considered but will be hired at the rank of instructor.

Every member of the nursing faculty shall:
• hold a current license or multistate licensure privilege to practice nursing in Virginia as a registered nurse without any disciplinary action that currently restricts practice; and,
• have had at least five (5) years of direct client care experience as a registered nurse in the field of expertise prior to employment by the program.

Preferred Qualifications:
