Job/Position Summary
The Department of Finance and Economics, College of Business Administration at the University of Sharjah,
invites applicants for full-time faculty positions in the Assistant/Associate Professor ranks,
starting Fall 2026-2027.
The ideal candidate will be expected to teach effectively in all areas of economics, contribute by
teaching in the undergraduate program, master's (MBA, EMBA, BAM), and DBA programs, and undertake
high-quality research activities.
Outstanding candidates from all research areas of Economics will be considered.
Major Responsibilities
1. Teach effectively in all areas of economics, contribute by teaching in the undergraduate program, master's (MBA, EMBA, BAM), and DBA programs, and undertake high-quality research activities.
2. Supervise graduate and undergraduate students’ projects and dissertations, engage in other educational scholarly and professional activities, and liaise with industry and academic programs accreditation.
3. Lead active, high-quality research and supervise graduate and undergraduate student projects and dissertations.
4. Contribute to program development and community service, including serving the profession.
5. Contribute to undergraduate and graduate program accreditation.
Skills and Qualifications
1. Ph.D. in Economics, from an internationally recognized and accredited University, preferably from Western Universities, with undergraduate and graduate teaching records combining course work and research.
2. Capability & experience to teach courses in all areas of Economics, particularly environmental economics.
3. Excellent economics research profiles, as evidenced by Scopus-indexed research.
4. Minimum of three years (full-time) academic teaching experience in higher education.
5. Working knowledge of relevant academic programs accreditation systems.
6. Demonstrated contributions to academic program development.
7. Proven record of ability to conduct independent, high-quality research.
8. Significant scholarly service activities, graduate teaching, and dissertation supervision are a plus.
9. Candidates with bilingual language proficiency in English and Arabic will be preferred.
