Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a physical or natural science from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and one year of experience in a public health, medical, clinical or research laboratory. An equivalent combination of education or experience may be considered.

These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
Supports the Gulf Scholars Program by recruiting and mentoring students, assisting with reports, supervising field trips, and outreach.
Supports research by planning and executing fieldwork.
Analyzes data and writes reports.
Supervises and participates in collecting, recording, and preparing laboratory specimens and cultures for research experiments.
Supervises and trains laboratory assistants, research interns, and lower level technical positions.
May design and direct the construction of research equipment.
Maintains inventory records of equipment and supplies and initiates purchase orders to replenish supplies.
Regular and prompt attendance.
Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
Related duties as required.
