Essential Functions
The University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB) - Academic Affairs Office invites applications for the inaugural Director, EPP. Reporting to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs in collaboration with College of Education and other stakeholders, the Director will play a transformative role in enhancing educator effectiveness and workforce readiness across the Permian Basin and the state of Texas.
The position ensures compliance with all state and national accreditation standards, promotes collaboration with PK-12 school districts and supports innovative practices to prepare highly qualified educators. The director will leverage deep knowledge of best practices in educator preparation, change management, and strong project management skills to develop strategic and innovative approaches for enhancing the quality fast track certification programs at UT Permian Basin. The director will use both policy and support strategies to drive continuous improvement and all teacher certification programs.
The Director serves as the University's primary liaison with the Texas Education Agency, State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC), and relevant accreditation bodies. The director performs advanced managerial work with limited supervision.
  • Provide leadership in the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of educator preparation and development programs for the University.
  • Oversee preparation and submission of accreditation reports, data reports, and program reviews for the UTPB EPP.
  • Manages all aspects of the EPP admissions, testing, clinical practice placements, and certification.
  • Responsible for leading/supporting/managing EPP team members
  • Collaborate with College of Education, Enrollment Management, Graduate Studies, Advising, and Student Success to enhance online student retention and satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with PK-12 school districts for clinical placements, residencies, and other innovative and collaborative initiatives.
  • Lead data-informed quality assurance systems that track candidate performance, testing data, and program outcomes to inform continuous improvement.
  • Implement analytics dashboards and continuous improvement cycles for online learning outcomes.
  • Manage budgets, digital learning technology platforms, LMS systems, project management platforms and vendor contracts in collaboration with IT.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Provost.
    Required Qualifications
    1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college of university.
    2. Multiple years of progressively responsible administrative experience in education or a related field.
    3. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    4. Experience managing institution-wide projects.
    5. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    6. Commitment to professional excellence and student success.
    7. Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, online databases, and project management software.
    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Master's degree in education, counseling, public administration, or a related field.
    2. Proven leadership experience, preferably within an educational environment.
    3. Familiarity with Texas Education Code (TEC) and Texas Administrative Code (TAC) provisions related to educator standards and preparation.
    4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and expectations.
    5. Knowledge of best practices in educator preparation, support, and development.
    6. Systems thinking and ability to effectively anticipate and identify challenges.
    7. Ability to use data and research for purposes of continuous improvement.
    8. Ability to build and sustain strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

    Schedule
    Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.
    Standard Working Conditions
    1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
    2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
    3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
    4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
    5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
