The University of Texas Permian Basin's Athletics Department welcomes applications for the position of Assistant Football Coach for Defense
Salary Range
$40,000.00 depending on qualifications
Essential Functions
The Assistant Football Coach supports the management and daily operations of a competitive NCAA Division II football program. This position works closely with the Head Coach to develop student-athletes through coaching, recruiting, conditioning, and program coordination. The Assistant Coach contributes to practice planning, game preparation, recruiting activities, and team operations while promoting academic success, personal accountability, and adherence to University, conference, and NCAA standards. This role plays an important part in creating a positive, disciplined, and student-focused athletic environment.
1. Promote the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program while adhering to departmental policies and procedures, University regulations, NCAA rules, Lone Star Conference guidelines, and applicable system and state requirements.
2. In collaboration with the Head Coach, plan and execute all aspects of the football program, including conducting practice sessions, coaching student-athletes, evaluating performance in practice and competition, monitoring conditioning and training, and advising student-athletes regarding eligibility, financial aid requirements, personal conduct, and appearance.
3. Work with the Head Coach to support and coordinate team academic priorities and expectations.
4. Represent the program during practices and competitions in the absence of the Head Coach.
5. Coordinate recruiting activities, including on- and off-campus visits, evaluations, and contacts, and ensure all recruiting activities are documented in compliance with NCAA regulations.
6. Engage in opponent scouting activities, including film review and breakdown into instructional segments for student-athletes.
7. Schedule and supervise individual student-athlete workouts.
8. Participate in approved public relations and fundraising activities, including media engagements and community outreach.
9. Ensure athletic equipment is available, properly maintained, and in safe working condition, and recommend repairs or replacements as necessary.
10. Participate in approved clinics, camps, exhibitions, and coaches' meetings, and implement strategies developed through these activities.

Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree
2. Two (2) years coaching experience
Preferred Qualifications
1. Prior coaching experience or a minimum of 2 years working in a campus or athletic environment or as a collegiate athlete is preferred.

Schedule
Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.
Standard Working Conditions
1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
