The College of Engineering, Applied Science & Technology at Weber State University is accepting applications for an assistant tenure track faculty or an instructor position in the Energy Engineering program starting fall semester, 2026. The Energy Engineering program is an extension of the robust Mechanical Engineering department which offers baccalaureate degrees in energy engineering, mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology and an associate in pre-engineering.
Instructor positions are temporary appointments renewable annually at the sole discretion of the university. If hired as an instructor, transition to tenure-track requires approval of the Dean and completion of all tenure-track requirements.
Job Duties
The selected individual will teach a variety of fundamental energy engineering courses. Expected duties include program-building, advising, community and industry outreach, course development, and service to the department, college, and university.
Required courses to be taught are Introduction to Nuclear Energy; Reactor Theory, Safety and Design; and Radiation Protection. Additional areas of interest include but are not limited to Senior Project I & II, Nuclear Industry Fundamentals, and the development of energy engineering technical electives.
Required Qualifications
Required qualifications for the tenure-track position:
A Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering or closely related area.
At least three years of industry or lab experience
Required qualifications for the instructor (non-tenure track) position:
A M.S in Nuclear Engineering or closely related area
At least three years of industry or lab experience
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering
At least five years of industry or lab experience.
Teaching experience at the University level along with positive evaluations are a plus.
