Required Qualifications (as evidenced by the attached resume):
Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Health Information Management, Informatics, or a related field. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, an associate’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Health Information Technology (HIT) or a related field and two (2) years of full-time experience working in medical records and/or health informatics may be considered. RHIT or RHIA certification. Three (3) years full-time experience working in medical records and/or health informatics.

Preferred Qualifications:
Two (2) additional years of full-time experience working in medical records and/or health informatics. Prior experience in Health Information Management. Project management experience. Proficiency with data and spreadsheets. Experience performing audits. Leadership experience.

Brief Description of the Duties:
The Health Information Management Analyst is essential to ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and quality of patient medical records. This role is responsible for verifying that critical documentation in the World Trade Center Record is present, timely, and properly uploaded.

The HIM Analyst component of the role involves reviewing and analyzing medical records to identify documentation deficiencies, monitor compliance, and uphold the integrity of the health record. Key duties include reclassifying misfiled documents, tracking unsigned provider orders and scanning documents. Through these responsibilities, the Health Information Management Analyst supports the overall WTC operations and ensures that medical records consistently meet organizational, regulatory, and quality standards. The ideal applicant will have a strong knowledge of medical terminology, with excellent oral and written communication skills. The ideal applicant will have the ability to plan, organize, and oversee assigned initiatives effectively. The ideal applicant will have the ability to track progress, analyze information, and support decision-making. Duties of a Health Information Management Analyst may include, but are not limited to:


Review patient medical records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with organizational documentation standards.

Identify and correct misfiled documents or improperly assigned note types within the electronic medical record (EMR).

Verify and update incomplete or inaccurate patient demographic and clinical information.

Conduct post-visit record analyses to confirm all required documentation has been properly completed and filed.

Record, monitor, and manage documentation deficiencies within the medical records management system as needed.

Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations, as well as NIOSH standards, when processing medical record requests.

Prepare and file extensions for medical record processing when required to meet deadlines or compliance obligations.

Digitally scan, upload, and index medical records and related documentation into the WTC electronic chart system with a focus on accuracy, completeness, and accessibility.

Lead the NIOSH medical records project by adhering to contractual guidelines, implementing process improvements, and proposing workflow enhancements to meet project objectives.
