Research Technician (All Levels)

Position Overview & Responsibilities
The Lewis Lab in the Aging and Metabolism Research Program is seeking a Research Technician (All Levels) to support research focused on neurobiology and mitochondrial function. This position involves both in vitro and in vivo approaches in mice and requires someone who can work both independently and as part of a team. The technician will play a key role in advancing the lab's research goals and should expect significant daily interactions with mice. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Mouse handling and colony management
- PCR genotyping
- Molecular Biology
- Lab organization and record keeping
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS degree, typically in one of the biological sciences, physics, or chemistry, or equivalent years of professional, paid, relevant laboratory experience
- Familiarity with standard laboratory techniques
- Effective communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Highly motivated, conscientious, and dependable
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Previous lab experience working with rodents (especially mice) highly preferred
Work Hours
- Typically, Monday through Friday from 8:30AM to 5:00PM.
Working Conditions
- Position involves frequent work in a laboratory environment with animals (primarily mice)
- Possible exposure to fumes, airborne particles, or rodent dander
- Work may involve contact with chemicals, liquid nitrogen, human tissue, or blood
- Potential risk of electrical shock when working with equipment
- Occasional exposure to cold (4°C) and extreme cold (-80°C) storage environments
- Noise levels are typically moderate
