Department Summary

The Marketing and Communications Team is responsible for telling the story of the Division of Student Affairs and its departments to external and internal audiences through digital and print assets including social media, videos, ads, articles, brochures, emails, fliers, newsletters, posters, and websites.

Position Overview

The Web Coordinator supports the Division of Student Affairs website to ensure optimal user experience across desktop and mobile platforms. The role also assists departments throughout the division with web-related requests and initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field and two years of experience in writing and/or editing publications; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to conceptualize, write and edit content for university audiences. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, conduct multiple tasks and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to visually inspect print and digital copy. Knowledge of how to contact sources and ability to conduct interviews and take accurate notes. Knowledge of spelling, grammar, punctuation and Associated Press and Chicago Manual styles. Knowledge of writing guidelines for various media. Ability to create unique copy for each format (print, online, broadcast). Understanding of institutional strategy (or ability to quickly assimilate) and ability to integrate strategy into modes of communication. Knowledge, skills and abilities for webbased positions include content management, editing software, CSS, HTML, crossbrowser testing and manipulation of page display for mobile devices. Ability to adhere to ADA compliance. Ability to produce web site prototypes. Ability to organize information from numerous sources into cohesive and effective navigation. Ability to check web sites for accuracy and functionality before sites are published. Ability to translate documents, requirements, wireframes into professionally designed, functional web properties.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred candidate will have experience with HTML, HTML editing tools, Adobe Creative Suite and content management systems. Omni CMS knowledge a plus.

Job Duties:

Create, coordinate, and distribute content for websites, including basic HTML/CSS updates, page formatting, and content layout adjustments.
Collaborate with departments across the division, ensuring web content is properly structured and accessible.
Contribute to the creation and maintenance of new page developments using the CMS and basic scripting as needed, as well as calendar updates, event posts and webforms.
Establish and monitor metrics for digital content effectiveness using tools like Google Analytics and SiteImprove; generate and distribute metric reports to stakeholders.
Provide consultation on best practices and enforce policy compliance related to accessibility (WCAG), mobile responsiveness, web file management, and image optimization.
Identify and integrate key web elements to improve user experience, including interactive content, social media integration, web graphic design, and intuitive navigation.
Assist with basic troubleshooting of web issues, such as broken links, formatting errors, and form functionality, and escalate complex issues to advanced developers as needed.
