College/Department Information
The Medical College of Georgia's Department of Cellular Biology and Anatomy is dedicated to understanding cellular function through state-of-the art research in areas such as autophagy and apoptosis, bone metabolism, developmental biology, molecular motors, dysphagia/swallowing disorders, exosome biology, renal disease, stem cell research, vision science (retina and cornea), and cell wounding. The Department of Cellular Biology and Anatomy has as its core mission the advancement of outstanding research and education. We work collaboratively to discover new knowledge through innovative biomedical research, to transmit that knowledge to students, and to train future researchers, educators, and health care professionals.
Job Summary
Assist PI with experiments for grant development; collect data for submissions of manuscripts; assist trainees and technicians in the laboratory; perform, plan and execute independent studies; Assist with designing new research techniques and procedures; ensure compliance with rules and regulations pertaining to use of biohazardous materials, oversee the use of materials and equipment in the laboratory. We are especially seeking candidates with animal and/or vision research-related working experience.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide and assist PI with data collected through experimental techniques for grant development and submissions of manuscripts; conduct experiments, analyze results, and summarize findings; prepare findings for presentations at national and international meetings, publications and grants.
Assist Principal Investigators, post-doctoral fellows, students and technicians in research techniques and procedures; assist trainees and other technicians with collecting analysis of project data.
Work with and assist research manager, postdocs to ensure compliance with rules and regulations pertaining to use of biohazardous materials (Biological safety), chemicals (chemical safety), anesthetic drugs (DEA; IACUC), and experimental animals (LAS; IACUC); oversee use of materials, equipment, etc.
Assist in maintaining and upkeeping research protocols for mouse research.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of four years of experience with grant preparation and submission of research/scientific manuscripts.
OR
High school diploma, GED from a state or federal accrediting organization and seven years of administrative support experience with at least three years of experience within a healthcare setting or in a research program/environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in vision-related research.
Extensive research in research design and methodology.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).
Salary Range: $45,400-$56,700 annually.
Pay Band: B8
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
