Job Description
Summary
Performs complex, responsible research work of an advanced nature requiring high-level skills and expertise; uses own initiative or supervises others in planning and completing advanced medical or research experiments in accordance with general directions from the principal investigator.
Job Duties
- Adheres to commonly held standards of professional ethics and scientific integrity.
- Plans, directs, and conducts research experiments as defined in my funded R35 grant. Namely, they will synthesize and make supercoiled DNA minicircles to bind to and study DNA acting enzymes.
- Evaluates and analyzes data generated.
- Develops research techniques and performs applications required for specific research projects.
- Reads and understands the literature is required.
- Documents the results of experiments thoroughly and reports results to the principal investigator as required.
- Trains and orients less experienced research staff.
- Helps recruit and trains new trainees and staff as new funding comes into the laboratory.
- Supervises, schedules, and coordinates the activities of less experienced research staff.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the PI.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field.
- Four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a basic science or a related field.
