Summary

The individual in this position will perform research into how the human microbiome impacts health and disease. Cultivation and characterization of anaerobic microbes is a key focus of this position. Additional responsibilities may include measurement of biological markers of disease, preparation of samples for metabolomics, and/or isolation and culturing of microbes. Under the direction and general supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Technician II will collaborate with other team members to conduct research. The successful applicant will become well-trained in state of the art techniques for studying host:microbiome interactions using in vivo and in vitro techniques.

The individual must have flexibility in work schedule to occasionally work evenings or weekends.

Job Duties

  • Prepare and conducts a variety of laboratory research experiments.
  • Collect, compiles, and analyzes data.
  • Document results of experiments.
  • Contributes to laboratory and project meetings.
  • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format as directed by by the PI.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.
