Job Function:
Perform duties as assigned with the Athletics health care program. Serve as the Head Athletic Trainer for the football program, as directed by the Director of Sports Medicine.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university by date of appointment; NATA certification; Indiana Athletic Trainer State License or eligible for licensure.
Preferred Education:
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Minimum Experience:
At least three years of athletic training experience gained on a full or part-time basis at the NCAA Division 1 or professional level.
Preferred Experience:
At least two years of full or part-time experience serving as an athletic trainer with an NCAA Division 1 or professional football team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Make recommendations for the coordination of the day-to-day operations of the health care program for Intercollegiate Athletics.
- Serve as the head athletic trainer for the football program.
- Evaluate injuries and make physician referral decisions for assigned sports.
- Design and implement, in coordination with the team physician, all rehabilitation and therapeutic programs for assigned sports.
- Work in conjunction with other members of the athletic training staff, to supervise the athletic training graduate assistants; supervise students in the athletic training major.
- Provide athletic training services to assigned sport, including travel and coverage for home/away events.
- Coordinate with the Strength and Conditioning Coach regarding programs for injured and rehabilitating athletes.
- Show commitment to and responsibility for, adherence to all rules and regulations of Ball State University, the Mid-American Conference and the NCAA.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Provide athletic training services to assigned sport, including travel and coverage for home/away events.
