---Oversees and maintains University fleet of FAA part 141 aircraft trainers.
- Interacts with Supervisor of Department flight Ops and Chief Flight Instructor.
- Maintains strict compliance with all FAA and aircraft manufacturers airworthiness and safety directives, to include Piper 100i, Seminole, King Air, Cessna Aerobat.
- Cleans and details outside and inside of aircraft.
- Investigates technical compliance orders.
- Maintains aircraft logbooks and records.
- Performs daily inspection of aircraft fleet.
- Order parts and advises and collaborates on maintenance diagnosis.
- Inspects new parts for integrity.
- Keeps aviation shop hangar and work areas orderly and clean.
- Keeps shop equipment in operable condition.
- Complies with campus and departmental safety procedures, policies and University, OSHA, and FAA recommended practices, policies and procedures.
- Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
Job Requirements
---Required Education: High School diploma, GED, Vo-Tec or Trade School.
Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Detail oriented for accuracy.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to build rapport with students, faculty and staff.
- Ability to produce reports and complete work within deadlines.
- Strong initiative to solve problems.
- Ability to perform annual FAA aircraft inspections IAW FAA and manufacturer specifications.
- Ability to perform 100 hour FAA aircraft inspections IAW FAA and manufacturers specifications.
- Ability to perform University required 50 hour preventive maintenance inspections and maintenance work.
Certifications:
- Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe license to support FAA part 141 Flight School,
- FAA power plant license to support FAA part 141 Flight School,
- Graduate of FAA certified
- AP aircraft mechanic school
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License in order to drive University vehicles or ability to obtain within 30 days from hire date.
Advertised Working Conditions:
- Physical:
- Regularly stand, bend, stoop, crawl, lie on cement floors, enter confined spaces, with hands continually wet with fluids. Lift above shoulders and carry 30 lbs. or more. Exposure to heavy lifting. Manual dexterity.
- Environmental:
- Regularly exposed to extreme temperatures indoors and outdoors. Exposure to odors and loud noise. Wear and maintain personal protective equipment.
Departmental Preferences:
- 24 months single- and multi-engine aircraft A&P maintenance experience.
