Full-time, nine-month, one-year renewable position with an emphasis in either the natural/physical sciences or the arts (preferably visual arts, dance, and/or theatre).
A. Teach 12 credit hours of Honors College courses each academic term. Teaching assignments will include interdisciplinary explorations in the natural/physical sciences, or in the fine arts with emphasis on contemporary societal issues. Faculty will also teach courses with in-depth inter-or-multidisciplinary topics as colloquia.
B. Work collaboratively with current faculty to develop innovative pedagogy in the Honors College.
C. Mentor undergraduate Honors students on thesis topics or fellowship projects.
D. Contribute to the intellectual and professional life of the Honors College, Ball State University, and the surrounding community.
E. Perform other service related duties as assigned by the Dean.

The Ball State Honors College seeks a dynamic instructor who can work and mentor highly motivated students in a learner-directed environment that features small classes and opportunities for project-based or discussion-based courses. In particular, the Honors College is seeking a full-time, nine-month, one-year renewable position with an emphasis in either the natural/physical sciences or the arts (preferably visual arts, dance, and/or theatre). Faculty should be able to teach core courses in the Honors College curriculum, as well as upper-level topic-based courses of their expertise. Faculty are also expected to contribute to the strong community of honors faculty, staff, and students through mentorship opportunities and engaging in co-curricular and extracurricular honors experiences.

Job Function:

Minimum Experience:

A. Graduate degree in the natural, physical, or social sciences; humanities; the fine arts; or closely related areas from an accredited college or university by the time of employment.
B. Evidence of potential for excellence in pedagogical innovation, interdisciplinary interactions, and mentoring undergraduates.

Preferred Experience:

A. Terminal degree in the natural, physical, or social sciences; or closely related areas from an accredited college or university.
B. Experience teaching small, discussion-based seminars.
C. Experience teaching across disciplines, crafting service-learning or community engagement collaborations, and mentoring students.
