Summary

The lab is seeking self-motivated individual to work in a laboratory at the Jan and Dan Duncan NRI focused on investigating the neural circuit mechanisms that underlie synapse and circuit formation mechanisms in the mammalian brain. The technician will assist in comprehensive experimentaion to evaluate how adult-born neurons wire into olfactory circuits in the mouse model.

Job Duties

  • Assists in molecular biology techniques to generate viral expression vectors, performs immunohistochemistry, and performs confocal imaging of processed tissues.
  • Maintains mouse colonies that includes genotyping mouse models via PCR.
  • Evaluates mouse behavior, setting up breeding cages.
  • Collects, compiles, and analyzes data along with the senior technician and assists the graduate students.
  • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular experiment.
  • Documents results of experiments in lab notebook, and regularly report results to the lab group.
  • Selects, evaluates, and applies appropriate experimental techniques used in routine research.
  • Attends departmental seminars, and attends weekly lab meetings/journal club meetings.
  • Assists in comprehensive experimentaion to evaluate how adult-born neurons wire into olfactory circuits in the mouse model.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.
