Job Description
Responsibilities*
You will be responsible for:
Providing psychiatric crisis care management services for adult and children populations including telephone crisis intervention and brief stabilizing care.
Patient management and treatment include coordination of care both internal and external to University of Michigan Health System and assisting patients with appropriate levels of care.
Participating in the education and training of students, and staff from social work and other disciplines.
Facilitating and addressing patient, family and visitor concerns and clinical case management as needed.
Coordinating admissions, outpatient care, verifying insurance, completing petitions and coordinating with PES treatment team, law enforcement probate court and other key personnel.
Required Qualifications*
A Master's degree in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council of Social Work Education.
A current licensure to practice social work in the State of Michigan.
Clinical practice concentration and field practicum and direct work experience in psychiatric health care required.
Desired Qualifications*
Experience and training with managing patients and visitors who have behavioral dyscontrol and the ability to de-escalate escalating behavior per UMHS/PES practices and knowledge of the Michigan Mental Health Code are critical to this position.
Prefer candidate with direct psychiatric emergency services experience and clinical social work experience with inpatient psychiatry and community mental health working as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
The ideal candidate will have strong assessment skills, knowledge of community resources, comfort with fast-paced care environment, and a proven ability to work well with patients and families as well as staff in community agencies.
Able to relate well with diverse client populations while managing a large caseload with multiple competing demands.
Efficient, accurate assessment of patient needs and effective case dispositions in a fast pace care environment.
Independent, sound decision-making is necessary for success in this position.
Skills in electronic charting, data entry using multiple data bases, and phone systems.
Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner while collaborating with the Psychiatric Emergency Services treatment team and other providers.
