Summary

Baylor College of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, Immunology, Allergy and Retrovirology Service at Texas Children’s Hospital is seeking a highly motivated, responsible, and organized individual to join the Immunogenetics Research Program as a Research Technician. The selected candidate will be expected to have the ability to expertly assess pathogenicity of genetic variants.

This position is part-time and temporary with an end date of June 30, 2025.

Work schedule is flexible.

Job Duties

Guideline-based gene-disease association and genetic variant pathogenicity curation.
Critical evaluation and interpretation of published data.
Demonstration of expertise with research techniques used to test variant pathogenicity (e.g., expression assays, functional assays, and so forth).
Presentation of investigative findings and summaries in meetings/conferences.
Training of new biocurators.
Preparation of data for submission to repositories and databases.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in basic science or a related field.
Current enrollment in a Genetic Counseling Master's program.
