Summary

Baylor College of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, Immunology, Allergy and Retrovirology Service at Texas Children’s Hospital is seeking a highly motivated, responsible, and organized individual to join the Immunogenetics Research Program as a Research Technician. The selected candidate will be expected to have the ability to expertly assess pathogenicity of genetic variants.

This position is part-time and temporary with an end date of June 30, 2025.

Work schedule is flexible.

Job Duties

  • Guideline-based gene-disease association and genetic variant pathogenicity curation.
  • Critical evaluation and interpretation of published data.
  • Demonstration of expertise with research techniques used to test variant pathogenicity (e.g., expression assays, functional assays, and so forth).
  • Presentation of investigative findings and summaries in meetings/conferences.
  • Training of new biocurators.
  • Preparation of data for submission to repositories and databases.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in basic science or a related field.
  • Current enrollment in a Genetic Counseling Master's program.
