Research Technician I

Position Overview & Responsibilities
The Chiao Laboratory is looking for a motivated research technician to assist with the investigation of mechanisms of cardiac aging and age-related cardiovascular diseases. The duties of this position will include mouse handling (injections, blood and tissue sample collection), molecular biology techniques (RNA, protein and metabolite extraction, PCR, western blotting), reagent preparation, general laboratory maintenance and organization. Assignments are typically non-routine and variable in nature.
Minimum Requirements

• BS/BA degree in one of the biological sciences, physics, chemistry, or related area, or equivalent years of relevant lab experience.
• Proficiency in handling laboratory mice.
• Basic computer skills, including internet software and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to understand and follow protocols accurately.
• Strong oral and written communication skills for presenting ideas and documenting procedures/data.
• Organizational skills for precise work with samples and chemicals.
• Proficiency in basic mathematical operations, including rate, ratio, percent, molarity, and unit conversions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working with laboratory mice and performing molecular biology techniques is highly desirable.

Work Hours

• Typically, Monday through Friday, 9:00AM to 5:30PM. Occasional work outside these hours will be considered with advanced notice.
