What Your Job Will Be Like:

Perform entry-level work within a technical science and engineering environment working in conjunction with Sandia staff on interdisciplinary projects that involve applying integrated technical judgment—which requires using critical thinking skills and the scientific method to recognize and formulate problems, to collect data through observation and experimentation, and to formulate and test hypotheses about the uses and deployment of advanced technologies in support of US nonproliferation and nuclear security goals.

On any given day, the student intern will need to:

• Use advanced research methods,
• Perform critical thinking activities, and
• Synthesize and analyze complex source material.
• Other project tasks will be dependent on successful candidate qualifications and experience.
• Specific projects may include technical content assembly and digital design for touchscreen panels in the Technology Demonstration Area.

Due to the nature of the projects, the successful candidate will need to be on-site.

Salary Range:

At Sandia, we value the important work done by our interns and its contribution to National Security. Because of this, our interns earn competitive pay rates. Our pay structure is based on earned credit hours, classification, and degree level. Your pay rate will be determined during the hire process and included in your offer package. Qualifications We Require:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

• Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
• Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
• Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
• Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship

Qualifications We Desire:

• Previous experience with multimedia digital design and content production for deployment to Content Management Systems running on standalone clients.
• Comfortable configuring basic hardware and network connections
• HTML 5, CSS, and JavaScript skills
• Ability to grasp and interpret technical messages across cultural boundaries
• Interest in global affairs and international relations, preferably with a specific focus on nonproliferation and treaty verification topics
• Capability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
