Job Profile Summary
Under immediate supervision, the purpose of the job is to assist with the installation, maintenance and management of the campus computerized irrigation systems, and general landscape/grounds maintenance.-----------
This position allows eligible veterans and their spouses to claim Veterans’ Preference pursuant to Florida Statute 295. Certain service members may be eligible to receive waivers for postsecondary educational requirements, in the employment by the state and its political subdivisions and are encouraged to apply for the positions being filled.

Minimum Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum Experience/Training:
- Two or more year(s) of relevant experience(i.e. direct and frequent tasks related to irrigation systems) required.
- Three or more years of experience on commercial irrigation systems highly preferred.
- Valid Driver’s license will be required for positions operating college motor vehicles.
Minimum Certification/Licenses:
- License or certification as electricians or plumbers highly preferred.
Essential Functions:
- Daily -70%: Performs routine checks of sprinklers heads and other components for correct functioning and proceeds to repair or replace where necessary.
- Daily -10%:Performs landscaping tasks requiring the use of small gas-powered equipment (edger, weeder, etc.) as well as hand tools.
- Weekly -10%:Documents the state of the irrigation system and plans corrective or expansion work based on campus priorities.
- Monthly - 10%:Maintains an inventory of supplies, components and equipment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read blue prints
- Comprehension of commercial irrigation systems and backflow prevention
- Standard trade skills required
- Ability to work with a diverse population of student, faculty and staff
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle is required
