Job Profile Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Financial Aid (State Aid and Fund Management), this position is responsible for reviewing and assessing student financial aid application data and determining their eligibility for appropriate state aid. Additionally, employees in this job classification partner with College staff to implement intervention strategies to promote student success and retention. Provides and promotes service excellence through courteous, informed, and professional engagement. Performs related work as directed.
This position allows eligible veterans and their spouses to claim Veterans’ Preference pursuant
to Florida Statute 295. Certain servicemembers may be eligible to receive waivers for
postsecondary educational requirements, in the employment by the state and its political
subdivisions and are encouraged to apply for the positions being filled.

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • A combination of education and experience may be considered

Minimum Experience/Training:

  • Four or more years of responsible experience in financial aid, academic advising, or other related student services experience.

Essential Functions:

  • Daily -20%: Coordinates and manages state aid programs such as, Bright Futures, Florida Student Assistance Grant, First Generation Matching grant, and other state grant programs. Assists with monitoring and maintaining state usage/balances, determining state priorities, award notifications, and web and print publications. Ensures compliance state and federal regulations and requirements.

  • Daily- 15%: Monitors and posts state awards within College’s financial aid system, performs need analysis to determine eligibility, and awards state aid for students. Strictly honors student confidentiality.

  • Daily -15%: Communicates regularly and effectively with students to track progress and promote student retention and completion.

  • Monthly -15%: Maintains the highest degree of integrity in the identification of students and award state funding. Matches students to state funding and awards students within the Master Eligibility list from Office of Student Financial Assistance (OFSA).

  • Daily-5%: Partners with the Office of Student Financial Assistance and collaborates with faculty and staff to promote student completion.

  • Monthly- 5%: Conducts data analysis and reporting to ensure accurate recordkeeping and an efficient system that facilitates planning, evaluation, and tracking of student success. Makes recommendations to Assistant Director, Financial Aid.

  • Monthly -10%: Advises and disseminates information to students and parents on financial aid processes; federal and state aid programs; and educational financing options.

  • Monthly-5%: Processes and resolves state appeals for initial and continuing students for all campuses.

  • Other, as needed- 5%: Remains current on knowledge and trends about available state awards.

  • Other, as Needed-5%: Performs related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Fully proficient in understanding and applying federal and state statutes as related to the position

  • Fully proficient in understanding the College's structure, policies and practices, and the impact on own area

  • Ability to understand and contribute to the enrollment services, academic advisement, student support, student life, and financial aid aspects of student services.

  • Expertise in the development and implementation of project plans, including the coordination of multiple resources and activities

  • Understanding of and ability to coordinate interdependencies of work within the area and of resources from outside the area

  • Ability to exchange information with individuals and collaborate with colleagues within the College and external to the College; including, but not limited to: written communication, verbal communication, strong presentation skills, and professional development planning and delivery.

  • Requires the ability to gather, analyze, present and disseminate data to various levels of the College and to external partners

  • Requires advanced knowledge of computerized systems and operating environments (i.e., Microsoft Office Products, SAS, CID, Financier, Work Day)

  • Ability to interact and effectively communicate with a diverse population of employees and students

  • Excellent coordination and communication skills used appropriately to influence the decision-making of individuals and groups at all levels in the College and community stakeholders
