Job Profile Summary

This district-wide administrative position provides leadership, planning, and direction to enhance the College’s ability to assess strategies and improve performance through advanced predictive analytics and data-driven decision-making. The role is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that monitor institutional success in achieving Broward College’s educational mission while supporting informed decision-making for students.
The Associate Vice Provost fosters collaboration and partners with academic and administrative leaders across the College, leveraging expertise to address key strategic questions through data-informed insights. The role requires analyzing and effectively communicating complex data to diverse audiences while building and sustaining a culture of evidence-based decision-making.
Key responsibilities include recommending, implementing, and interpreting policies, procedures, and best practices for collecting, analyzing, and utilizing data. The role ensures timely access to data to advance the College’s educational mission and drive organizational effectiveness.

  

Minimum Education:

  • Master's Degree required.

Minimum Experience/Training:

  • Ten years of progressively responsible experience in learning analytics, data science, or business intelligence, including over eight years in management and five years in post-secondary or higher education.

Essential Functions:

  • Works collaboratively with executive sponsors and key stakeholders to provide leadership, direction, and vision in developing and delivering advanced analytical and business intelligence capabilities to support the college’s expanding need for data-driven, strategic, and operational decision-making.
  • Leads and provides strategic direction and oversight for the Office of Institutional Research, ensuring resources needed to identify tools, technologies, and services that can further enhance the analytics capabilities of the college are a priority and predictive analytical resources are available to improve student success.
  • Oversees the college's data management and governance structure to include standards, policies, procedures, compliance, and prioritization.
  • Plans and directs the integration of various decision-support systems into a comprehensive, holistic environment and information architecture by executing a data warehouse, business intelligence, and analytics environment.
  • Undertakes significant statistical modeling, data mining, and analytics activities to identify, build, enhance, and utilize enterprise information and the application of cutting-edge technologies to improve the college's operational effectiveness.
  • Plans, develops, and implements applications of data analytic tools as appropriate to all college operations, focusing on developing dashboard monitoring and/or score-carding of key performance indicators compared to goals concerning benchmarks.
  • Delivers in-depth analytics and reporting to include the development of a strong partnership network among deans, directors, and other key stakeholders. Lead efforts to expand the use of information in academic and administrative planning, program development, and strategic decision-making.
  • Ensures data and information are accurate and available using a data integrity task force
  • Oversees the technical design and integration of data systems that will provide accessible and timely "on-demand" reporting regarding enrollment management, student matriculation, graduation, and other topics related to student experience, faculty workload, and curriculum offerings.
  • Oversees and assesses statistical models to support decision-making in enrollment management, program completion, learning outcomes, and other college priorities.
  • Develops and recommends the Institutional Research budget. Implements budget control processes to ensure overall fiscal responsibility and ensure projects are appropriately planned, resourced, and delivered within the budget outlined and approved in the formal statement of work (SOW).
  • Responsible for people management of the area, including recommendation of staffing, hiring, termination, and discipline, setting performance standards and evaluating staff, and staff development.
  • Oversees the reporting of timely, valid, and accurate data to the Florida Department of Education the U.S. Department of Education, and other external stakeholders for the purpose of compliance, analysis, and management and in direct support of the College’s mission and vision.
  • Remains apprised of applicable federal, state, and other reporting requirements and best practices and ensures that technology and other systems are in place to meet such requirements and best practices
  • Facilitates and/or leads the delivery of workshops and trainings on business intelligence dashboards, analytics, and reporting
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

  • Broad understanding of the external environment and how it affects academia in general and Broward in particular, including political, legal, environmental, educational, financial, and social influences
  • Broad understanding of the structure, operations, human resources, and finances of the College and the complexities of their interdependencies
  • Ability to translate College-wide strategies and priorities into strategic and operational plans and policies for one's own area
  • Ability to understand the impact of own area on the College and to contribute to the development of the College’s strategic plan
  • Proven leadership skills and managerial expertise, and ability to motivate and empower direct and indirect reports to achieve priorities and expectations for their own area
  • Ability to forecast and manage budgets and other resource requirements for area of responsibility
  • Ability to partner with others across the College and externally develop strategies and plans to exchange information, collaborate on projects, share resources, etc.
  • Ability to influence others on the benefits/importance of an idea or plan of action and to gain their support or commitment
