Job Profile Summary
Under limited supervision, this purpose of this job is to audit, analyze and reconcile payroll records to ensure timely and accurately processing of payment to all employees. This position also is responsible for auditing and processing employee’s leave payment and Drop records. Identifies system configuration problems or necessary updates and suggests implementing resolutions. Position assists in the development of new standard operating processes and procedures and performs related work as directed.
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field.
- An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
Minimum Experience/Training:
- Six or more years related experience preferably in higher education or a governmental organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Minimum Certification/Licenses:
- Fundamentals of Payroll Certification preferred.
Essential Functions:
- Daily- 15%: Serves as College liaison with FRS in regards to retirement issues and audits. Collaborates with HR to ensure accuracy of retirement benefit and deductions. Audits and reconciles FRS deduction reports at month end and prepares transmittal to FRS.
- Daily -10%: Delegates to and follows up on work of part time employee or other temporary administrative support employees, including recommendation of staffing, hiring, termination and discipline. Setting performance standards and evaluating staff, staff development and training, etc.
- Daily -15%: Serves as direct support to other payroll staff members with payroll processing, on demand payments calculations and other projects as they arise.
- Weekly -15%: Audits, reconciles and verifies leave time balance in Workday and in legacy system to issue terminal leave payments.
- Weekly- 10%: Researches and analyzes discrepancies and processes journal entries as needed to balance general ledger accounts
- Annually- 5%: Generates accrual reports for Finance as part of the Fiscal Year End process.
- Montjly-5%: Assists in the design and development of payroll related processes and procedures, determine and locate sources for collecting data, review, analyze and summarize reports to provide consultative services to management.
- Other, as Needed- 5%: Tests and creates test scenarios of the H/R Payroll system when new software updates (ports) are received. Assists in the development and implementation of Workday procedures used for processing data with focus on efficiency.
- Weekly-10%: Conducts audits regarding comp time accrual and usage on a monthly basis to ensure posting and payouts are in compliance with college policy/procedures and union contracts.
- Other, as Needed -5%:Performs related duties as assigned.

- Requires advanced knowledge of computerized systems and operating environments i.e. Microsoft Office Products and specialized computer systems
