Reporting to the vice president of student development and support services, the director of athletics and physical education provides vision, strategic direction, and administrative leadership for a growing National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association (NJCAA) intercollegiate athletics program, various recreational opportunities, and a strong physical education curriculum. The director will further the college’s goals, values, and mission to provide a supportive and productive working and learning environment embodying integrity, compassion, and respect. The director leads and manages an organization with an annual budget of approximately $600,000, six varsity sports, e-sports, club sports, over 200 student-athletes, and over 15 full- and part-time positions throughout the department.

The salary range is $85,000-$95,000, commensurate with experience.

The successful candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of intercollegiate athletics administration, student-athlete development, NJCAA, NCAA, or NAIA compliance, and the role of fundraising in supporting strategic and operating objectives. A collaborative management approach, coupled with superior communication and relationship-building skills, vital planning and fiscal competencies, an understanding of the role of enrollment, a familiarity with program development and assessment, excellent problem-solving abilities, an appreciation for physical education programming that reaches an entire student body, and a commitment to diversity and inclusiveness will be important considerations in the selection of the next director of athletics and physical education.
