College/Department Information
The Division of Laboratory Animal Services at Augusta University is a service organization, which facilitates the research and teaching mission of the University by meeting the animal research needs of the research community while concurrently providing for the safe and ethical treatment of research animals. Our emphasis on customer service is demonstrated by providing high quality animal care and research support in a timely manner while being courteous, professional, and responsive to our customers. We maintain a centralized animal care program with administrative management of 6 on-campus and 1 off-campus animal facilities. We report to the Vice President of Research, consult, and collaborate with the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee. The animal use program is accredited by AAALAC, a Registered Research Facility with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA No. 57-R-0002) and has an Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare Assurance number.
Job Summary
This position performs responsible administrative and secretarial duties of a complex and confidential nature in support of the Director of Laboratory Animal Services, Business Manager, and front office of Laboratory Animal Services to relieve supervisor of varied clerical and administrative responsibilities. Duties include but are not limited to serving as liaison for office operations, coordination and management of the Director's schedule, preparation of written correspondence, assistance with developing meeting and presentation materials, and assistance with report submission to other AU offices and outside agencies. Must be diligent in managing projects to completion and meeting stated deadlines, often with minimal supervision. Must demonstrate initiative and flexibility in taking on new responsibilities.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
Serve as primary point of contact for the office of the DLAS Director. Manage documents and correspondence with other AU offices. Coordinate meetings and agendas as requested to include DLAS staff interviews, visits from collaborators and vendors.
Maintain DLAS staff calendars and coordinate special events. Maintain supervisor's calendar, schedule meetings, arrange travel and process expense reports, and other forms incidental to these responsibilities. Maintain staff professional dues and license renewals. Submit work orders to include business cards, keys, signage, carpentry, print shop, sign shop, paint shop, facility work orders, and IT work orders.
Assist Business Manager with coordinating office schedule to ensure adequate coverage. Collate and report daily attendance and weekend on-call schedule. Generates other reports upon request from DLAS Leadership. May assist with planning or organizing the work of other office support personnel, including Office Specialist and Office Coordinator. Receive and manage prescription requests.
Assist with presentations. Compile data for inclusion in reports as requested and submit final reports. Examples include AAALAC and USDA annual reports and data reporting to RASAG, IACUC, and research groups. Manage surplus for department and assist DLAS Facility Supervisors.
Provide support for other DLAS administrative staff upon request. Coverage for absences; assistance with special projects upon approval of the director. Act as back-up for P-card purchases pertaining to professional dues, conference meeting registrations, and occasional supply purchases.
Perform all other related duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with two years of progressively responsible administrative support experience.
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with five years of directly applicable experience.
OR
High School Diploma/GED from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization with eight years of directly applicable experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with four years of progressively responsible administrative/management support experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
SKILLS
Detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday
Salary Range: $18.85-$23.56 hourly.
Pay Band: B6
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
