Job Summary
We are seeking an Information Technology Associate Director to join Computing and Multimedia Technologies (CMT) at the Survey Research Center (SRC) of the Institute for Social Research (ISR). The Associate Director oversees technical operations of end-user desktop support and DevOps staff and develops procedures to maximize staff productivity and efficiency. They manage IT budgets and resource allocations to support short- and long-term strategic technology goals. They utilize excellent communication and technical skills to support technology staff, resolve problems, and ensure excellent customer service. In this role, you will function as a hands-on manager who rolls up their sleeves to provide technology support and services that enables the staff and ISR overall to function daily.
The Information Technology Associate Director will report to the Director of CMT.

Responsibilities*
Hire, train, and supervise IT staff. Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and administer disciplinary action if needed. Assist employees with career development planning, identify and approve training, and incorporate development plans for staff in a daily work environment.
Work closely with the CMT Director and community stakeholders to identify new services and technologies for the ISR community and develop implementation plans.
Assign staff members to initiatives and provide project management leadership. Monitor expectations, results, and assess work quality. Hold staff meetings and team check-ins to monitor progress and provide updates.
Consult with customers, team members and vendors to deliver high quality services, address problems that may arise, and identify potential improvements.
Participate in budget planning and approve IT expenditures to support short and long-term organization goals.
Communicate department objectives, guidelines and best practices with ISR staff effectively, both orally and in writing
Coordinate the actions of relevant teams during a service outage until resolution and communicate status updates to the ISR community.
Required Qualifications*
A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science or related field, and/or an equivalent combination of applicable work experience or information technology certifications.
Six years of progressive responsibility in information technology roles
Broad knowledge of computer networking and IT service delivery in a Microsoft Windows environment.
Demonstrated experience providing customer service in information technology
Demonstrated experience managing IT projects and and supervising the work of others
Demonstrated experience hiring and building IT teams.
