Job Summary
Support laboratory courses associated with the BS Neuroscience program to include interacting with appropriate vendors to order laboratory supplies and equipment; preparing materials used for experiments in the teaching labs used in the neuroscience program; coordinating with vendors for troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of equipment; maintaining inventory records; and coordinating proper disposal of hazardous/biohazardous waste. In certain circumstances, may need to support the activities of other units within the College of Science and Mathematics.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
Determine needs, obtain quotes, and purchase laboratory equipment and supplies (including all necessary interactions with vendors, purchasing office, and receiving).
Maintain inventories and laboratory organization of laboratory rooms of laboratory courses associated with neuroscience major.
Coordinate or perform troubleshooting and repair of laboratory items
Perform functions related to safe laboratory conditions and operations such as testing eyewash stations and coordinating waste disposal.
Maintain purchasing records.
Prepare materials for upcoming student laboratory sessions (e.g. media, buffer solutions, specimens).
In certain circumstances, support the activities of other units within the College of Science and Mathematics.
Perform other related duties as needed for smooth laboratory operations.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural. life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area, with one year of applicable experience in a lab setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Purchasing experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge of standard accounting principles. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Good organizational and time management skills.
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to prioritize tasks and self-identify needs within scope of work duties. Ability to work independently and have focused work habits.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)
Salary Minimum: $18.85 hourly.
Pay Band: B6
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
