Position Summary
UNC Asheville’s Information Technology Services (ITS) department is looking for a dynamic Applications Systems Analyst to join their team.
The Applications Systems Analyst is responsible for providing system support for the development, maintenance and enhancement of enterprise systems, including, but not limited to, the Ellucian Banner General, Student, Accounts Receivable, Financial Aid, Self-Service Banner, and DegreeWorks Systems. This position also supports other ancillary systems within the department.
The employee in the position analyzes and implements new applications, interfaces, system enhancements, workflows and supports new technologies that improve the delivery of administrative services to students, faculty and staff. This position will work with users and other ITS staff members in the maintenance and support of database software, complex reporting, SQL scripting, and automating processes associated with administrative applications utilized throughout the university.
FLSA Exempt
Required Education/Experience/Skills
Master’s degree and 2‐4 years of experience; or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related area and 3‐5 years of experience in the information technology field related to the position’s role.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills
Experience with Ellucian Banner modules: Financial Aid, Student, General, SSB (Student and Faculty), Student AR, may also consider experience with other applicable Ellucian modules. May also consider equivalent experience with other ERP systems.
Working technical knowledge of:
Databases – (e.g., Oracle)
Programming languages (e.g., SQL, Java)
Reporting Tools – (e.g., Evisions Argos)
Banner Operational Data Store (ODS)
Imaging solutions (e.g., Softdocs Etrieve)
Form solution software – (e.g., NextGen Dynamic Forms)
Demonstrated experience in communicating effectively with non-technical personnel (including writing clear documentation).
Demonstrated proficiency in analyzing user department needs, make proactive recommendations to improve existing processes and identify where technology changes may create opportunities for user departments
Experience working in a higher education environment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to provide customer service to and collaboration with a wide variety of constituents
Knowledge of a variety of technical systems
Ability to troubleshoot and independently provide solutions to problems
Strong teamwork ability
Strong communication skills
Ability to stay up-to-date on technology changes and advancements.
