Job Description

The School of Aviation (https://www.ou.edu/ags/aviation) at the University of Oklahoma is inviting applications for a Associate or Full Professor position. The school is housed within the College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences. In addition to the School of Aviation, the college comprises the Department of Geography and Environmental Sustainability and the School of Meteorology. We offer innovative and multi-disciplinary education, research, and outreach programs in an environment that empowers students, faculty, and staff to seek solutions to grand environmental and humanitarian challenges to advance technology and propel knowledge, and to develop engaged individuals for rewarding careers in the following: private sector, academia, government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and entrepreneurship. The School of Aviation equips graduates with technological and practical skills in aviation and aerospace, shaping the future in commercial, corporate, and military aviation and business and policymaking in aerospace. In short, we craft the future of the land and skies.

As part of a 5-position cluster hire initiative in aviation, we seek an innovative scholar committed to advancing education and research in aviation to support the OU School of Aviation's expansion, which will be facilitated by major investments in a new fleet of aircraft and buildings.  

The ideal candidate will have expertise and demonstrated scholarly attainment in one or more of the areas listed in the qualifications. The person hired for this position should also have experience managing course curricula and supervising course delivery for teaching faculty and they are expected to conduct research, and provide service to the school, college, and university. The typical teaching load for OU professors at this rank is 2 plus 2.

Applicants will have a Ph.D., Ed.D., or other suitable terminal degree in an aviation or aerospace area of interest. A Juris Doctorate is not considered to be a terminal degree. The applicant will be tenured (if Full professor) or tenure/tenure-track (if Associate professor). If a Full professor and tenured, the applicant must demonstrate a continued commitment to teaching, research, and service. 

The applicant will have demonstrated excellence in research in one or more of the following areas of interest or have an employment record that demonstrates excellence in one or more.

Program Management of aviation/aerospace companies

Applied Educational Studies (Aviation)
Instructional Systems Design (NASA, FAA, ICAO, DoD)
