Job Description

Job Responsibilities

SEVIS Compliance and Data Management:
Ensure accurate and timely data maintenance and submission in SEVIS for F-1 and J-1 students.
Monitor data flow between SEVIS, the batch system, and campus systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Slate). Collaborate with the P/DSOs and A/ROs in ISS and Enrollment Management to maintain institutional compliance, interpret regulatory changes, and develop policies or procedures that align with federal requirements and university operations.
Strategic Data Analysis and Reporting:

Analyze international student and scholar data trends to inform strategic planning for enrollment, retention, and compliance.
Generate internal reports for institutional stakeholders and external reports for regulatory agencies or international education data initiatives (e.g. IIE Open Doors).
Contribute to divisional and/or institutional strategies related to international student support and engagement.
Training and Campus Collaboration:

Develop and deliver training for DSOs and AROs, faculty, and staff on compliance-related matters, including federal regulations and SEVIS/batch system functionality.
Serve as a subject matter expert on F-1 and J-1 requirements to campus partners. Coordinate cross-divisional efforts to ensure consistent international student and scholar support practices.
Policy and Process Development and Implementation:

Assist in drafting and revising internal policies and processes related to F-1 and J-1 regulations.
Maintain a repository of processes and guidelines to ensure consistent compliance.
Lead efforts to identify and resolve process inefficiencies related to international student and scholar data management.
Technology Oversight and System Integration:

Serve as the primary administrator for the batch system, ensuring efficient and accurate functionality.
Collaborate with IT and/or software vendors, to resolve system issues affecting data.

Communication & System Support:

Draft and distribute mass communications to students and scholars regarding regulatory updates, deadlines, and procedural changes.
Serve as a resource for campus partners, ensuring clear communication on SEVIS-related processes.
Provide technical and troubleshooting support to DSOs/AROs for SEVIS and batch software issues, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance.
Participate in special projects, office initiatives, and institutional committees as needed. Support ISS events and broader student engagement efforts when appropriate

Required Qualifications

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree
Minimum 3 years of experience in data management, data analysis, compliance, or a related field.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or a Lawfully Admitted Permanent Resident to qualify for DSO/ARO status within SEVIS.
Skills
Strong problem-solving skills with a strategic and analytical mindset.
Ability to use data-driven decision-making to support ISS and RIT goals.
Proficient in computer and data skills, with a strong focus on understanding and managing data across various systems.
Capable of training end users on web-based applications.
Ability to work closely with Information Technology support teams for software upgrades & testing.
Ability to manage and maintain confidential and private information; uses confidential, sensitive, and/or private records and information, protects information appropriately.
Ability to establish, build, and maintain effective working relationships based on respect, empathy, and honesty with diverse groups and individuals.
Ability to work flexibly in a quickly changing environment.
