Job Description
Summary
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a therapist to deliver cognitive-behavioral treatment for anxiety disorders and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to Veterans and Service Members participating in a randomized-controlled trial. Clinical duties include providing group and individual psychotherapy, participation in weekly team meetings to staff cases, and care coordination and safety planning as indicated. The Protocol Therapist will also conduct diagnostic assessments. The position requires flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to function both independently and within a clinical research team.Primary supervision and mentorship for this position will be provided by a licensed psychologist.
This position is located at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center.
Job Duties
- Delivers cognitive-behavioral treatment in group and individual formats per study protocol.
- Conducts diagnostic assessment using gold-standard instruments such as the Anxiety and Related Disorders Interview Schedule for DSM-5 (ADIS-5) and Clinician-Administered PTSD Scale for DSM-5 (CAPS-5).
- Participates in research team meetings and presents cases for diagnostic consensus.
- Completes required documentation for assessment and treatment visits.
- Coordinates with clinical research team to determine participant eligibility, schedule treatment, and facilitate referrals.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- No experience required.
- Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Professional Counselor- Intern (LPC – I), Licensed Professional Associate-Intern, (LPA-I), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist-Associate (LMFT-A), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
