Job Description

The Lewis-Swan atomic, molecular, and optical physics (AMO) theory group at the Center of Quantum Research and Technology (University of Oklahoma) is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on theoretical problems in quantum simulation and many-body non-equilibrium physics. Topics of interest will include the following: dynamical phase transitions, entanglement, quantum coherence and  information scrambling. The research will focus on a variety of spin-boson and spin models realized in AMO quantum simulators, ranging from spinor Bose gases to cavity-QED and trapped-ion platforms.

A Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related area is required. A background in dynamical phase transitions, quantum simulation and/or many-body dynamics is favorable, as is experience collaborating with experimental groups.

The initial appointment will be one year, and is renewable for another one year with satisfactory performance and mutual agreement. The start date of the appointment is flexible and can be as early as Feb 8, 2025. Compensation for the position is competitive, with additional funding for travel available.

A complete application will include the following 4 items: 1) Cover letter (max 2 pages), 2) Current CV (including a list of all publications), 3) Brief statement of research interests and research plans (up to 2 pages), and 4) Contact information for 3  letters of reference (supplied in the cover letter).
