The Graduate School aims to provide a rich intellectual, academic and research environment for educating students to become leaders in the discovery, dissemination, and application of knowledge. To help facilitate this, our graduate faculty members are selected based on experience in research, scholarship and education. They are drawn from the faculties of Augusta University's College of Allied Health Sciences, College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Hull College of Business, Dental College of Georgia, College of Education and Human Development, College of Science and Mathematics, College of Nursing, School of Computer & Cyber Sciences, the Medical College of Georgia, and the School of Public Health. Class sizes are small, and the faculty excels in cultivating and modeling supportive, collegial and professional relationships with students. Job Summary
The Graduate School Professional Development and Career Planning Coordinator is dedicated to supporting the career development and professional growth of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. This position is critical to our ability to provide outstanding graduate student support needed to increase enrollment, retention, and overall satisfaction or our growing graduate student population. This role will inventory and track current professional development and career planning opportunities and resources for graduate students and postdocs at AU, and assess national trends in this space to ensure that we remain competitive. This role includes organizing workshops, seminars, and networking events to enhance students and trainees' skills and career readiness. The coordinator will collaborate with faculty, alumni, and community professionals to create internship and professional development opportunities across a breadth of disciplines within our graduate student population.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT & COORDINATION: Inventory and track current professional development and career planning opportunities and resources for graduate students and postdocs at AU. Assess national trends in professional development and career planning for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Develop new programming or modified existing ones to meet identified needs, ensuring alignment with the Graduate School goals and objectives. Design, implement, and evaluate a "GRADFirst" orientation course for all incoming graduate students.
Design, implement, and evaluate a quarterly Postdoc orientation session for all new AU postdoctoral fellows. Serve as a resource and representative of the Graduate School for professional and career development programming. Launch and oversee the LinkedIn Learning platform to provide mini-courses and credentials for professional development. Oversee communications, planning, advertisement, and coordination of Graduate School professional development seminars and events to enhance skills and knowledge and career development seminars and events offered virtually and on campus. Prepare reports on program development activities, outcomes, and impact to present to the Graduate School leadership and community. Collaborate with TGS leadership to plan and coordinate "GRADGuide" annually.
COLLABORATION PARTNERSHIP: Work with other departments, external partners, and stakeholders to develop relationships with alumni to establish a professional/ community mentoring program, internship opportunities, and career counseling for enrolled graduate students. Host alumni panels and webinars to share career experiences and insights with students. Work with the assistant director and director of the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs to plan Fall and Spring postdoc events. Partner with the Career Center to both maximize and promote opportunities for graduate students and establish opportunities for graduate students to mentor undergraduates. Establish partnerships with companies and organizations in the CSRA to create internships and job placement opportunities. Organize industry-specific career fairs and networking events to connect students with potential employers. Engage with local businesses and community organizations to create volunteer and service-learning opportunities that enhance students' skills and community connections.
SUPPORT OF OTHER GRADUATE SCHOOL OBJECTIVES: Participate in annual Graduate School events, including but not limited to Annual Graduate Research Day, Annual Graduate Research Day Awards Banquet, and Fall and Spring Graduate School Reception. Plan and coordinate annual TGS Alumni events which include but are not limited to appropriate correspondence between faculty, staff, postdocs, and students, room reservations, catering arrangements, printing of collateral, disbursement of invitations, tracking RSVPs, coordinating volunteers, and serving as the point of contact during the event. Provide monthly professional and career development resources to be shared in a newsletter to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
GRADUATE SCHOOL SUPPORT: Collaborate with TGS web developers to design, implement, and continually update a professional and career development page on TGS website. Collaborate with TGS program directors to develop a policy for internships. Perform all other related duties and tasks as assigned.
GRADUATE FACULTY COUNCIL SUBCOMMITTE: Provide support for the Graduate Faculty Council subcommittee, Graduate Community & Student Success.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with 3 years of related experience.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (Work outside of regular business hours may be required)
Pay Grade: B10
Salary: $52,500/annually - $58,000/annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
