Saint Mary's College seeks to hire a per-course adjunct faculty member to teach Sociology 316: Global Migration in the traditional undergraduate program in Spring 2025.
This is an upper-division course scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:30 - 3:10 PM. A syllabus is available.
The course examines the dynamics of contemporary migration and its impact on cultures, societies, politics, and families. It introduces key theories of assimilation, transnationalism, and multiculturalism while exploring contemporary international migration patterns. Topics include:
- Feminization of migration
- Labor migration
- Citizenship and belonging
- Human trafficking
- Refugee crises and politics of asylum
This course will be taught in person, on campus.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Sociology, Anthropology, Ethnic Studies, or a relevant field preferred
- ABD candidates will be considered
- Prior teaching experience in migration studies or related topics is desirable
The salary is $9,928 - $13,344 depending on qualifications. The salary range for this position is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here.
Candidates must reside in California.
