What Your Job Will Be Like:
Sandia National Laboratories is seeking an experienced professional to manage the International Export & Trade Compliance Organization (IETC). The selected candidate will play a crucial role in facilitating Sandia’s mission by leading the development, implementation, and maintenance of internal export and import controls to ensure compliance with relevant export and import control laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop laboratory policies and written procedures for compliance with relevant export and import control laws and regulations, including but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Department of Energy (DOE) Regulations, and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
- Communicate current and emerging export issues to senior management as required.
- Collaborate with senior management to determine appropriate staffing and resources for the IETC.
- Provide supervision and mentorship to staff, managing priorities and providing clear direction.
- Develop reports and metrics for IETC processes to ensure effective monitoring and compliance.
- Manage export and import records in accordance with Sandia policy and U.S. Government regulations.
- Identify training needs and manage training resources to ensure staff are well-informed and compliant.
- Manage the assurance program through self-assessment of export and import compliance processes.
- Provide strategic direction for continuous process improvement within the IETC.

This position is hybrid, where the selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.
Salary Range:
$133,800 - $227,500
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- Requires a bachelor's, master's, or doctorate in relevant discipline and (8) or more years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience (equal to 16 years).
- Experience in export, compliance, security, cyber security, classification, or other relevant field.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L Security Clearance.

About Our Team:
The International Export & Trade Compliance Organization (IETC) manages and implements Sandia's Export, and Import Compliance Program. Our mission is to ensure that all SNL activities comply with relevant Export and Import Control laws and regulations. IETC interprets export and import controls for commodities, software and technology subject to the jurisdiction of the Departments of Energy, State, Commerce, Homeland Security, and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. This includes guidance and support for export control determinations, licenses, investigations and training. In addition, IETC conducts reviews of facilities, Cooperative Research and Development Agreements, Work for Other Agreements, Intellectual Property, specifications, technology assessments for foreign visits and assignments, foreign travel, and other areas. IETC also oversees Import Compliance, including customs clearance, USHTS Classification, duty avoidance, broker management and other aspects of informed compliance and reasonable care.
Posting Duration:

Security Clearance:
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
