Ball State University’s Department of Architecture seeks faculty candidates for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor available starting in August 2025. Major responsibilities lie mainly within the area of design studio instruction at both the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as lecture/seminar courses in the candidate's areas of focus. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate a record of current and advanced design methods with the ability to teach—and speak to—contemporary design processes and effective visual communication and representation strategies.
The Estopinal College of Architecture and Planning (CAP) at Ball State University has a rich history in community engaged, professionally grounded, innovative, and impactful design education. The Department of Architecture offers undergraduate and graduate architecture programs that emphasize the education of architecture and historic preservation students through design studio, engagement with social and environmental justice issues, immersive and experiential learning, digital literacy and design computation, high performance building design, building systems and assemblies, digital fabrication, and critical practice in the pursuit of preparing the next generation of leadership in architecture.

Salary and benefit packages for this position are competitive, with salaries for this opportunity beginning at $65,000 annually.

Minimum Experience:
1. Master of Architecture degree by time of appointment OR;
2. Bachelor of Architecture degree with post-professional master’s degree in architecture or allied discipline from an accredited college or university by time of appointment.

Preferred Experience:
Professional licensure in architecture; a PhD in architecture, evidence of excellence in teaching within an architectural curriculum; evidence of productive scholarship (research/creative work) with an active research, grant solicitation, and publication agenda; a track record of excellence in professional practice and service; design studio teaching; excellence and experience in teaching a primary AND secondary topical area.
