Job Description
As part of a sustained, multiyear, strategic growth initiative, the School of Computer Science in the Gallogly College of Engineering (GCoE) at the University of Oklahoma (OU) seeks applications for three teaching-focused assistant professor positions (ranked renewable term, RRT) with a targeted start date of Fall 2025. We seek candidates whose education and experience have prepared them to be integral contributors to the advancement of our welcoming community. The candidates who fill these positions should look to bolster the school’s academic programs at all levels, particularly our ABET-accredited Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree and support OU’s strategic plan with a particular emphasis on Pillar 2: Prepare Students for a Life of Success, Meaning, Service, and Positive Impact and Pillar 4: Become a Place of Belonging and Emotional Growth for All Students, Faculty, Staff, and Alumni; and further our efforts at retention and graduation of our students. We are particularly interested in candidates with broad knowledge in computer science who can excel in teaching a variety of computer science courses including automata/theory of computation, principles of programming languages, operating systems, software engineering, and/or database management systems.
OU CS ranked renewable term (RRT) faculty normally teach three courses (nine credit hours) each semester, which constitutes 80% of their workload, with the remainder allocated to service and/or research. RRT faculty are initially appointed for three years. Longer terms of appointment are possible after the initial appointment. RRT faculty have the opportunity to advance in rank. RRT faculty serve nine-month appointments with the possibility, but not the requirement, of teaching summers for additional pay.
