Job Summary
The Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR), based at the University of Michigan, is the world's premier political and social science data archive. If you have a passion for problem-solving and network management for internal and external customers, we need a Windows Virtualization System Administrator, who specializes in managing windows servers and virtualized desktops, to join our team.
You will work with a small, diverse team committed to delivering quality platforms and a high level of customer service. You will report to the Computing & Networking Services Desktop Support Manager.

Responsibilities*
Maintain, test, install and modify software, such as operating systems, compilers, utilities and multiprogramming systems.
Analyze, plan, and implement system maintenance, including software patches and upgrades.
Collaborate with the DevOps team for system configuration and architecture changes.
Perform installation-specific customization tasks.
Test, interface with and support the applications programming effort.
Maintain documentation of processes and keep user support information up to date.
Demonstrate quality service and accountability while resolving incidents and meeting customer needs.
Establish customer and team relationships using effective communication and collaboration skills.
Update, prioritize and complete tickets in a timely manner.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's degree in an IT related field, or a combination of education, certifications and equivalent experience.
2 or more years of experience in Windows Administration: robust technical skills, user administration, Group Policy and Active Directory
2 or more years experience in scripting: writing code that can perform tasks without human intervention, such as configuring settings, running commands or monitoring systems
1 or more years of experience in Network administration: configuring and monitoring devices like switches and firewalls
Experience providing customer service
Desired Qualifications*
Familiarity with VMWare or similar
Familiarity with PowerShell
Familiarity with statistical software and programming languages such as SAS, SPSS, Stata, R, Rstudio, and Python
Familiarity with Atlassian Jira Service Management ticketing system
