Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or GED and minimum of 2 years experience. Minimum of 21 years of age. Valid driver's license required and insurable through University's auto insurance policy. USA citizenship at time of appointment. Certified under the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training Police Officer's Professional Standard (P.O.P.S.) program and a police academy recognized and approved by the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training (DOCJT). To be eligible for appointment candidates cannot have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor domestic violence crime as set forth in 18 U.S.C. & 992 (g) (8) and (9). The selection process includes successful completion of a written examination, oral interviews, drug screening test, physical examination and psychological evaluation and comprehensive background investigation. Certified or eligible for the DOCJT Intermediate Law Enforcement Officer Certification. Grade 4 (Hourly)

Position Description:

The Patrol Officer II is a state certified, commissioned, law enforcement position providing police work/protection for the University. Work involves enforcement of laws, rules and regulations applying to the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the University, and surrounding municipalities. Officer is expected to patrol an assigned area, exercise full law enforcement powers, conduct criminal investigations, collect all types of evidence, and prepare appropriate reports. This is an experienced level position with a POPS Certification and (3) years experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Patrol to determine whether conditions appear in order.

  • Participate in community oriented policing/interact with UofL community.

  • Participate in required departmental training.

  • Collect, analyze, and verify information/complete written reports.

  • Respond to emergency situations (accidents, fires, hold-ups, etc.).

  • Direct and control flow of traffic and pedestrian movement on campus.

  • Work special details (athletic events & student activities).

  • Perform surveillance operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Police Officer's Professional Certificate(POPS Certification)

  • Valid Operators License

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
