The University of Louisville Finance department is seeking to hire an Accountant II. The Accountant II will assist the Tax Manager in completing all necessary State, Federal and Local returns including Forms 990 and 990-T for the University of Louisville and its affiliated entities, conduct updated tax research, educate business units and respond to their inquires relating to various tax issues, provide tax advice and support to accounts payable and payroll departments, prepare and file information returns including Forms 1099 and 1042-S, perform tax research for necessary taxable adjusting entries, and keep current on legislative issues in order to support University compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with preparation of Forms 990 and 990-T.
Maintains software for Form 1099, W-2C, and W-2G tax preparation.
Prepare all state sales tax returns and conduct periodic compliance checks. Make adjusting tax journal entry corrections as needed.
Keep state registrations of exempt status current.
Prepare and file all information reporting forms for all domestic and foreign vendors, including forms 1099 and forms 1042 when applicable.
Prepare periodic federal, state, and local payroll tax returns including federal Form 941. Make adjusting tax journal entry corrections as needed.
Review and approve foreign vendors and make appropriate withholding tax deposits.
Run reports, analyze transaction and find the necessary tax entries to respond to inquiries by units on taxability issues.
Research authoritative literature to resolve tax issues in order to identify tax correction entries and keep current on all legislative issues affecting the University's tax positions.
Handle special projects as assigned by Controller/Treasurer, Assistant Controller and Tax Manager, including audits or inquiries.

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
