Job Description

Job Summary
The Clinical & Revenue Cycle IT (CRC) Division of the Health Information Technology & Services (HITS) Department of Michigan Medicine (MM) seeks a PM-experienced Applications & Services Director to oversee the development, updates and maintenance of Revenue Cycle applications such as Epic Resolute Professional & Hospital Billing, Epic HIM, Onbase, Epic Grand Central, and many other applications. CRC Services include MiChart testing, and MiChart release management and may expand in the future if appropriate. The Epic EHR at MM is called MiChart.

Responsibilities*
Collaborates in the acquisition and implementations for hospital-wide or department-specific clinical information systems.
Assists in developing the design of the clinical information systems, assuming the system is congruent with current operations or analyzes current systems and makes recommendations for changes as are appropriate.
Provides leadership for committees and task forces related to information systems and documentation.
Participates in software customization as needed to accommodate organizational needs and prevent any disruption in patient care services.
Assures that regulatory standards are considered in the design of the systems.
Assesses need for revision or development of organizational policy and procedure as the systems are developed.
Leads application design support of accreditation, program certification and regulatory activities of the organization, including but not limited to, HIMSS, TJC, CMS, Patient Safety programs and others as identified.
Works collaboratively in the development of educational materials as is necessary to educate staff and prevent disruption of patient services.
Works collaboratively to educate revenue cycle and hospital staff with the implementation components of clinical information systems.
Remains cognizant of security protocols, confidentiality, and access issues in system design, implementation and education of users while following appropriate policies and procedures.
Effectively collaborates with hospital staff in system design, communication of progress of system implementation, system changes, educational needs, and priorities.
Builds strong, positive working relationships within HITS, CRC, and across MM departments.
Assists in the development of budgets as requested.
Manages assigned resources in a cost-effective manner.
Remains aware of organizational goals and objectives at all times in the performance of responsibilities.

Advises Senior HITS leadership on the status of assigned applications and setting of the overall technical and application environment as needed
The Revenue Cycle Applications & Services Director is responsible for the following tasks:

Manage and supervise all direct reports such as the Application Managers or Coordinators.
Oversee support, maintenance, optimization, enhancement, upgrade and/or replacement of the applications within the Director scope.
Lead upgrades and new project work including new modules and enhancements of the MM application Environment as appropriate.
Communicate often with CRC Senior Director, other CRC & HITS Directors and Managers, and MM Leadership.
Facilitate application-related communication with MM revenue cycle, clinical, and operational stakeholders.
Attend and facilitate (as appropriate) key meetings with stakeholders.
Required Qualifications*
A bachelor's degree
7 to 10 years of increasingly responsible experience in the operation and management of IT services
Project management or progressive management experience in healthcare with at least three years working within Health Information Technology in some capacity
Deep knowledge and experience implementing and supporting electronic health records
Ability to work collaboratively with teams of all sizes and from different areas
Ability to multitask complex work assignments
Exceptional communication skills, professional image, and confidence in dealing with complex business situations
Demonstrated track record as an innovative and collaborative leader in healthcare and/or information technology
Experience in Epic applications
Project management experience
Desired Qualifications*
A master's degree or higher in healthcare.
Clinical experience or strong understanding of healthcare.
Epic Certification(s).
Business analyst and/or workflow experience.
Experience with other healthcare applications and management of them is a plus.
Experience in managing large budgets and human resources.
