Principal Investigator, Dr. Dianhua Jiang, MD, PhD invites you to consider this Research Associate III opportunity to join his dynamic team!
The Jiang Laboratory focuses on cellular and molecular mechanisms of lung inflammation and fibrosis, the role of lung stem cells in pulmonary fibrosis, and the role of host defense in lung inflammation and fibrosis. Experimental approaches employed in our lab include molecular biology, protein chemistry, protein structure, knowledge of AlphFold, lung injury models, prospective isolation and organoid culture of lung stem cells, single cell RNA-sequence, immunology, and genomics studies.
The Research Associate III works closely with PI, providing technical and/or administrative support in a large or multi-project oriented lab. The incumbent may be requested by PI to take on specific supervisory activities, provide administrative leadership and/or technical expertise, may develop hypothesis, assists in planning steps for the investigative process, and will review and remain current on literature as it relates to clinical/research study. This position is responsible for coordinating all lab and/or clinical activities, including - budgetary/financial compliance, preparation of grant proposals, and creating independent presentations. This role is not responsible for generating grant funds.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides miscellaneous clinical/research support (ad hoc data analysis, hypothesis development, programming, troubleshooting, etc.).
- Organizes clinical/research trials in conjunction with the Principal Investigator and sponsor and/or funding source.
- Monitors and ensures compliance with safety standards and procedures.
- Analyzes data and prepares scientific findings for publication as author or co-author and may make independent presentations.
Department-Specific Responsibilities:
- Investigates molecular mechanisms of lung fibrosis, and participates in research projects including the role of innate immune, stem cells, extracellular matrix, resident mesenchymal cells, and fibroblast lineages in lung injury and repair.
- Maintains and performs in vivo experiments including mouse lung injury models and sample collections, and in vitro experiments including protein-ligand binding, kinase assays, assay development, molecular sub-cloning, cell culture, flow cytometry, mRNA analysis, protein analysis, and biochemical studies.
- Trains other lab technician on related lab procedures. Other lab duties include: ordering lab supplies, record keeping, lab maintenance, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education:
- Bachelors Degree in a Science related field required.
Experience and Skills:
- 3 years of research laboratory experience, required.
- Experience with routine laboratory procedures and experimental protocols.
- Must possess digital literacy with Excel and Word.
