The Augusta University Libraries lead the organization in providing comprehensive resources and services in support of the education, research and scholarship, clinical care, and outreach and economic development strategic focus areas of our research university and academic medical center.
Job Summary
The Accountant 1 serves as support to the Business Manager 1. This individual oversees and participates in all day-to-day financial operations and transactions and ensures timely initiation and follow-up on all such requests and communicates updates as appropriate to all affected parties. This individual will also work in support of both libraries in the tracking, coordinating, and assisting as appropriate with facilities issues and special events or programming.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
FINANCIAL: Oversee and participate in all day-to-day financial operations, including, but not limited to: ensuring timely processing and tracking of all requisition and travel requests in PS Financials; use of funds; P-Card holder responsibilities; and processing pre-payments and reimbursements in a timely manner. Collaborates with peers in AU Provost office, Budget, A/P, Sponsored Programs, etc. to problem solve issues and seek solutions with independent judgment
ADMINISTRATIVE: First point of contact with Library employees on where to go for help with library financial transactions. Responsible for handling and tracking key, facilities, surplus, and moving requests in conjunction with Reese and Greenblatt building coordinators. Also serves as unit's assistant equipment control officer and liaison with AU Facilities as appropriate.
GENERAL DUTIES: Develops tools, resources, training and communications geared towards employees in regards to expectations for financial operations and transactions as it relates to library operations and procedures. Plan, coordinate, and execute logistics for special functions at both library locations, supporting outreach and programming efforts. Serves as ex-officio on library outreach efforts and leads Finals Frenzy coordination.
OTHER DUTIES: Continually improve processes and stay up-to-date in changes in financial policies and procedures. Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance or related field.
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance or related field and three years related experience.

KNOWLEDGE
Basic to intermediate financial and mathematical acumen.
Understanding of AU and USG policies and procedures.

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and critical thinking skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday
Pay Band: B7
Salary Minimum: $20.29/hourly
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
