Position:

The department of Manufacturing Systems Engineering and Management at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is seeking a tenure-track faculty member in Engineering Management at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The successful candidate will teach and research in the areas of Engineering Management and Engineering Management Technology.

In addition to teaching, the position requires weekly office hours, attendance in faculty meetings, participation in assessment of student learning, and service to the department, college, and university. The successful candidate may be required to teach on weekdays, evenings, weekends, and/or online and will be held to the standards and requirements of the college and department in which he/she/they is/are housed for recommending tenure and promotion. Given CSUN's commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and engagement in a diverse environment, the successful candidate will help the Department achieve equitable academic outcomes for all students through teaching, student mentorship, scholarship, and service.

Required Qualifications:

• A doctoral degree in Engineering Management, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited institution, preferably at the time of application. However, all but dissertation (ABD) candidates will be considered, but must complete the doctoral degree prior to August 20, 2025.
• Experience of effectively teaching (in-person and/or online) and researching in areas such as engineering economics, financial and cost analysis, decision making, operations management, project management, quality management, supply chain management, engineering innovation management, managing teams and personnel, data analytics in modern industries, and data-driven optimization, process improvement and systems engineering.
• Evidence of continued research, including presentations at conferences, publication of peer-reviewed articles and development of research proposals for external funding.
• Experience with advisement and/or supervision of students with diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field.
• A clear vision of how the candidate plans to contribute to the B.S. Engineering Management Technology and the M.S. Engineering Management programs in the department.
• Taught a course independently at the College/University level in any of the areas mentioned above in the Required Qualifications section.
• Industrial or practical experience with manufacturing processes or similar areas.
• Experience supervising research projects or internships, particularly those involving student mentorship with students from diverse background.
• Experience with assessment and accreditation processes; especially the ABET accreditation process.
• Evidence of effective engagement or potential to engage with a diverse student body.
• Experience using culturally responsive pedagogy that leads to equitable outcomes for all students.
• Experience creating a student-centered learning environment.
• Strong communication skills (e.g., through a well-written and well-organized cover letter, teaching and research statements).

• A teaching statement (maximum 3 pages) describing their teaching philosophy, prior teaching experiences and courses taught, as well as plans and strategies to be successful in teaching at CSUN with a diverse student population,
• Teaching evaluations (for courses taught independently); in case of co-teaching, being a lab instructor/assistant or a teaching assistant who delivered lectures or held discussion sessions, the applicant needs to submit a confirmation letter from their professor of reference or their supervisor describing their teaching effectiveness. Please limit your provided teaching evaluations for courses (co-)taught/supervised in the past three years, with provided evaluations for a maximum of six courses.
• Names and contact information (including email addresses and phone numbers) of at least three references, who can address the candidate's teaching, research, and service.
