Are you passionate about using innovative facilities solutions to tackle significant challenges for our nation's security? If so, we want you to join our diverse team as an Operations & Engineering Lead at Sandia National Laboratories in Tonopah, Nevada!
We are seeking a highly qualified, proactive, and motivated individual to serve as a Facilities Portfolio Manager (FacPM) within our Facilities Operations Management Group. This full-time, on-site position requires candidates to live within a five-hour drive of the Tonopah Test Range.
In this role, you will define and negotiate facility system requirements that support mission functions and performance. You will plan and direct projects involving engineered systems, coordinating with customers, leadership, Facilities personnel, and other key stakeholders to achieve project objectives. Key responsibilities are maintenance, project and construction work that include:
- Collaborating with the Facilities Area Management (FAM) team, Space, Tactical Planners, and Strategic Planners to develop cross-divisional building management options and solutions to enhance space utilization, including consolidations and reconfigurations.
- Conducting scope development studies for various building types, ensuring that HVAC, electrical, architectural, and communication infrastructure meet customer needs.
- Reviewing facility drawings and working with the CADD team to update the Maximo information database and related technology applications.
- Developing project scopes and budgets, authorizing building modifications, and overseeing project execution and contractors.
- Reviewing and accepting minor construction work, applying your expertise in architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection fields.
- Communicating effectively with architects and engineers to negotiate customer requirements and present plans.
- Supporting analysis for Preliminary REAL Estate Plans (PREPs), Division Facility and Infrastructure (F&I) plans, and the DOE Facility Information Management System (FIMS).
- Serving as a liaison between the Tonopah Test Range and the main Sandia Facilities group in Albuquerque, NM.
The successful candidate must be willing to work a compressed 3- or 4-day schedule ( two 14-hour days and one 12 hour day or 4/10 hour days) while staying on-site during the work week. Candidates residing in Tonopah will not be required to stay on-site. This position is also eligible for a 15% geographical differential pay.
Salary Range:
$90,900 - $176,900
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- Bachelor’s degree in facility management, engineering, construction management, architecture, or relevant discipline plus five (5) or more years of directly related experience; or Master’s in facility management, engineering discipline, architecture, construction management, or relevant discipline plus one (1) or more years of directly related experience.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.
Qualifications We Desire:

- Excellent oral and written communication skills typically demonstrated through various products and presentations.
- Experience in civil engineering and managing infrastructure projects.
- Collaborate with administrative support staff, strategic planners, operations engineers, project teams, maintenance personnel, and various other professionals to achieve objectives.
- Proven ability to use expertise in one or more engineering fields to make critical decisions that support mission requirements and infrastructure operations.
- Experience in Facilities Management, Project Management, lifecycle asset management, and planning for the maintenance of buildings or infrastructure systems.
- Active DOE Q security clearance.

The Facilities Operations and Management Group consists of the Facilities Area Management (FAM) teams and Work Coordination Control (WCC), which serve as the primary interface for Facilities services. If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
